The Hood Sweeney Adelaide 36ers are excited by the release of the NBL schedule for season 2010/11.
The NBL in conjunction with Network 10 & One HD has targeted the popularity of Friday night and Sunday afternoon sport to lift the profile of basketball around the country.
The 36ers believe this will not only benefit the league with increased television exposure, but will also give our fans and their families a greater opportunity to come see their team live.
Our season tips off with a home clash on Sunday 17th October against the current NBL Champions Perth Wildcats and our final home game is a clash against long time rival the Melbourne Tigers on Friday 18th March, 2011.
Other highlights include two home clashes against the Sydney Kings and the return of a New Years Eve blockbuster against last season’s grand finalist the Wollongong Hawks.
New coach Marty Clarke has put together a very competitive group of young Aussies, runner-up NBL Most Valuable Player Adam Ballinger, Darren Ng, Nathan Herbert, Jacob Homes, Brad Hill and first time sixers, Daniel Johnson (Melbourne Tigers), Jeff Dowdell (Townsville Crocs) and point guard Rhys Carter (South Dragons via Sweden).
Marty is keen to measure his team against the reigning champions Perth in the season opener “Playing Perth in the first game allows us to see how we compare to the best in the competition”. The search for two quality imports continues, as Marty looks to add the right balance to an already solid line up.
Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online or by calling the club on 1300 SIXERS (1300 749 377).
