The Sydney Kings have taken up the options on Cody Ellis and Kevin White, re-signing them for another season.
Ellis joined the Sydney Kings midway through this season, after completing his college studies at the University of St. Louis. Ellis played 16 games, averaging 5.1 points per game on 35% shooting from the field.
“It was my first experience in the NBL and it was awesome,” said Ellis on his rookie season.
“We have a core group of guys who can do something special and I’m really excited about the future.”
Ellis admits the team had some challenges this season, but believes they’ll return stronger and better next season.
“We had some adversity, a few different changes in the playing ranks, but we are a talented group and I know we can do well with a stable season.”
Ellis grew up in Perth where his father Mike was a legend during his tenure with the Wildcats but he said there was no temptation in returning West.
“I love Sydney, my family is happy here and we never considered going back to Perth.”
White, a product of Sydney's Northen Beaches will be heading into his fourth season with the Sydney Kings.
“I grew up in Sydney and the opportunity to continue playing with the Kings is great,” said White.
The re-signing of Ellis and White follows the announcement last week of co-captain Ben Madgen and Tom Garlepp staying in the Harbour City for a further two years.
These announcements also follow on from head coach Shane Heal declaring he would not be returning to coach Sydney in 2014/15 after the team missed out on the finals after losing to the Wollongong Hawks.
