New import, Bennett Davison joined Anthony Petrie last Saturday morning in a tough training session with the Gold Coast Rollerblaze Wheelchair Basketball Team at Nerang PCYC.

Wheelchair basketball is essentially the same game with a regulation height ring  and some slightly modified rules.  Bennett and Anthony joined in Suicide and Texas Passing and Shooting drills, towing and a scrimmage and quickly adapted to the game.

“About an hour into training Anthony mentioned something about his arms beginning to string and Bennett needed his hands strapped for blisters from pushing, but they both seemed to really enjoy this different form of basketball”, Lisa Stewart, Coordinator of Rollerblaze said.

“Bennett had some previous experience playing wheelchair basketball during College. We look forward to them joining us again”.

Rollerblaze  trains every Saturday morning and new players are always welcome – you do not have to be a wheelchair-user to “have a go” – you just have to love basketball.
