Player Profile
Gibson will run the Blaze offense exclusively in 2010/11. A basketball brain with the skills to match, Gibson returned from the 2010 FIBA World Championships a more complete player after filling a senior role in the Boomers backcourt. A nightmare for opposing ball-handlers with his nagging, confrontational defence, the Tasmanian is well on his way to being one of the top point guards of his generation. Completes an all-class backcourt combination with Blaze captain James Harvey.
A well decorated player at such a young age, Gibson won a championship with South Dragons in the 2008/09 season and was also judged the NBL’s best defensive player. Cut his teeth as back-up to C.J Bruton on the all-conquering Brisbane Bullets roster of 2006/07 which was coached by Joey Wright. With a season on the Gold Coast under his belt the former AIS scholarship holder is ready to lead the Blaze to their maiden championship.
