The Junior Academy programme is the final step below the Breakers Academy in the Elite pathway.
Trainings are held on Wednesdays 6.30am - 7.45am each school term at the Breakers training venue, 7 Atlas Place, Mairangi Bay.
The focus of the Junior Academy training sessions are to train the players to a level that extends them in both their physical and mental ability. Being the final stepping stone to the Academy players in this programme must show promise and have the attributes to go on in basketball at a Professional level.
To remain in the programme it is important to continually work hard and show improvement. This is a selected programme so it is important if selected to treat your spot with great pride and respect.
Selections:
Players can gain entry into the programme via:
- Trials which may be held prior
- Selection from nomination (Nominations must come from a creditable Rep or school coach or local association)
- Talent identification from Breakers coaches.
NB: Breakers Coaches have the right to move a younger player in a higher age group if they believe this will extend and benefit the player)
