Sponsored by McDonald’s Family Restaurants, the Sharp Start program consists of two 10 week programs that will be run in conjunction with Term 4 this year, and Term 1 in 2012.
The talented young players that were selected will receive two individual training sessions a week, that focus on both physical and basketball skill development. They will also have access to the Crocs gym facilities and spend time with the Crocs Strength and Conditioning staff.
The current Crocs roster boasts six players who have all come through the program in the past and this statistic will only further inspire the next generation of local talent.
The Crocodiles are committed to developing North Queensland’s talent and Flynn said the club wanted to nurture local players into future NBL stars.
"We want to give these players the tools to be an NBL player because in the long term we want our team to have a real ‘local flavour’," he said.
Some of the Sharp Start kids have already had a chance to train with the Crocs this season – Michael Demertze, David Carroll, Josh Myles, Chris Kyle, Tom Howard and Harry Guides. This is a great experience for these young players and further motivates the squad to train their hardest.
