BOXSCORE

A dominant performance by the Perth Wildcats has resulted in an 86-70 road victory over the Wollongong Hawks in their Heritage Round clash on Sunday.

The Wildcats were never headed as they outscored the Hawks 45-25 in the first and third quarters.

Shawn Redhage (18 points) led five Wildcats in double-figures, as Perth rallied to split their weekend road-double and snap a run of seven consecutive losses in Wollongong.

Showron Glover had 12 points for Wollongong, who were unravelled by 24 turnovers to fall to 1-4 at home.

The Wildcats pumped on all cylinders in the opening quarter, quickly snatching a 20-9 lead, while the Hawks coughed up six sloppy turnovers.

In contrast, Perth protected the ball without error and shared the scoring load between seven players to close the period up 28-16.

Wollongong rallied in the second, consecutive threes by Joevan Catron and Oscar Forman closing the gap to six (27-33).

Glover energised the Hawks, first showing his toughness by absorbing a crunching offensive foul by Matthew Knight (14 points, 7 rebounds), before sparking a much-needed running game to pull the home team within two.

Perth steadied through big buckets by Kevin Lisch and Redhage, the duo combining for the Wildcats' last nine points of the half to hold a 44-39 advantage.

Wollongong suffered a four-minute scoring drought to open the third, trailing by ten when a pair of free-throws by Glover finally got the scoreboard ticking.

The Hawks registered just one field goal as Perth grinded their way through a 17-9 term to build a 13-point (61-48) buffer heading into the fourth.

The gap soon expanded to 20 after Perth posted seven unanswered points, allowing them to survive a late flurry of three-pointers by Forman and Tyson Demos.
