Letter from our Director of Coaching, Paul Simpson

I welcome every member to our club and trust that you recognise the privilege in which we all share through being involved with such a great club and sport.

Melbourne Tigers history is long and proud, and has been characterised by many great stories of athletes who have travelled the same journey on which our young players are embarking. Melbourne Tigers is the birth place of several World Champions.

Our team concepts will contribute significantly to the culture of our team and the tone of our journey. These concepts will become valuable life skills that we can utilize continually. They will include respect, trust and care for every member of our team. In addition to these we must be personally accountable for all our actions, we must be positive throughout tough times, we must develop a strong work ethic away from training and the coaches’ eyes and we must want to achieve greatness. For all this to happen we must be very disciplined and committed to the journey.

If it is to be it is up to me. These attributes will define you and ensure that you are successful people in everything you do in life.

All of us must believe in our abilities as a team and on an individual basis. Athletes and teams who strive to be successful will reach goals far beyond their singular individual capabilities.

We aim to see you as an individual as well as a team member and acknowledging a balanced lifestyle is paramount to development as an athlete and person.

I ask all players to embrace and be committed to the opportunity to represent

Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club
