Cheeky by name and cheeky by nature is perhaps the motto of the Burger King NZ Breakers mascot Cheeky the Kea.

A native to New Zealand, Cheeky is proudly biased when it comes to supporting the NZ Breakers and when not entertaining the kids and families on court, he can usually be found doing his best impression of John Travolta or Kobe Bryant behind the opposition basket or bench! To be honest, we are still struggling to make out the difference between the two – no offence to Kobe

Cheeky has had a long association with the Breakers and is as familiar on game night as the crowd standing for ‘Can You Feel It’ to start the third quarter. During his time as a Breaker, Cheeky has trained at Superhero School to further refine his defensive qualities – should they ever be needed of course!

If there is a prize draw to be made, if there is a competition to run, if there is a fan to entertain, if there is a moment to celebrate – Cheeky is right in the thick of it – often thinking it is all about him.

But we love him and he will once again be courtside throughout another exciting Burger King NZ Breakers NBL campaign. Be sure to say hi and wish him all the best when you next see him at the North Shore Events Centre.
