The Wollongong Hawks stand alone as the NBL's only undefeated team after claiming a runaway 100-67 victory over the Perth Wildcats at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Sunday.

The top-of-the-table showdown quickly swung in the Hawks' favour in the opening quarter when they swooped on the Cats with a blistering run of 19 unanswered points.

Adris Deleon uncorked another phenomenal performance off the bench with a game-high 26 points to lead six Hawks in double figures.

Hawks captain Oscar 'The Shot' Forman finished with 21 points while Lance Hurdle posted 10 of his 13 points in the first quarter.

"I'm really pleased with the defence, really pleased with our rebounding and really pleased with how we handled their pressure," Hawks coach Gordie McLeod said.

"For us to have six turnovers against them, that's really good.

"It's great when you shoot the ball well, when you put all those things together, you're going to play well."

Perth were led by Matthew Knight's 18 points and Jesse Wagstaff had 12 as the Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season.

"We got schooled by an outstanding team, (they have) so much discipline and as far as I'm concerned they are the benchmark," Wildcats coach Rob Beveridge said.

"We purely had our asses handed on a platter and I would hope and I truly believe we have the character to bounce back from this."

The hot hands of Hurdle and Forman got the Hawks off and running, the pair racking up 13 straight points to pave the way for the obliterating opening run.

Glen Saville's athletic block on Shawn Redhage made a statement at the other end as Wollongong repeatedly turned defence into attack.

When the dust settled on the opening quarter Wollongong had drained six triples with a string of transition buckets to control proceedings at 38-19.

Perth were able to curb the scoring onslaught early in the second but could only shave five points off the deficit.

The inclusion of Dave Gruber sparked a late 9-0 flurry for the home side, capped by Deleon's acrobatic finish at the hoop to have Wollongong soaring at 54-31 at the half.

Wollongong led by as much as 25 on three occasions throughout the third term, eventually closing the quarter up 78-50 on a long jumper by Tyson Demos.

The Hawks continued their unrelenting attack in the fourth, Forman and Deleon showing the Cats the door with a succession of threes down the stretch.

"The guys are working hard, it's good to get that reward from it, but obviously this thing is a marathon," McLeod said.

"In the NBL you've got to enjoy it when you get a win, but it's more about next week and putting the hard hats on."
