New import Will Blalock has arrived and is ready to win using his NBA experience to guide the Townsville Crocodiles to victory.
Monday was the first day that he had taken the court as a Townsville Croc and he certainly looked ready to be a part of the team and excite the fans of Townsville
“I really want to come here and win," said Blalock. "That’s pretty much the only goal I have personally at this stage. It is all about doing my bit to help the team where I can.”
Blalock is keen to use what he learnt from his games in the NBA to help his team.
“The NBA has taught me a lot about being a point guard. Being in a leadership role it is important that me and the coach have a good relationship and get guys in the right spots and find people to get the open shots… Playing at the highest level in the NBA has reinforced the importance of this.”
Blalock is not expecting too much difference between the NBA and the NBL and he believed that NBL players were just as skillful as the NBA players.
“I actually watched some tape of guys that have played in the NBL and they are pretty skillful so its probably going to be no different to the NBA.”
Blalock’s final impression of the team was yet to be formed with pre season training just commencing but he definitely had formed an opinion already about Townsville’s weather.
“You guys got really lucky as far as winter [goes]. I’m from Boston and in the winter its freezing and here you can wear t–shirts and go to the beach in the winter. It’s amazing.”
