'Cats in the Community

August 20, 2010, 10:24 PM AEST

Well, we are almost finished with August, how time flies!!! We are less than 2 months from the start of the season and with preseason tournaments and games kicking off next week in Waroona the boys have been flat out getting as many community engagements done as possible.

In the last 2 weeks we have visited Hocking PS, Clarkson PS, Cottelsoe PS (see photo attached), Quintillian PS, St Hilda’s AGS, Scarborough PS, Applecross SHS, Palmyra PS, Caversham PS, Kalamunda PS, Mt Pleasant PS, Rostrata PS, St Andrew’s GS, Bicton PS, St Thomas PS, Ballajura CC, Our Lady of Lourdes PS, Southwell PS, St Gerard’s PS and Rehoboth CC.

Brad Robbins and Shawn Redhage also made the trek down to Falcon Primary school to visit our peel friends where they spoke to a whole school assembly and put the basketball teams through their paces. We have found a whole new group of Wildcats supporters and we look forward to seeing those kids next week in Waroona.
This Sunday Stevie and Kevin will experience a once in a lifetime opportunity where they will head out on Jack Bendat’s boat for a meet and greet with Supermodel Jerry Hall, who is in town for her starring role in the stage play “The Graduate”. Have fun boys!!!

Next week will be a bit different for all of us here at the Cats as we are heading down to Waroona for a bit of a club bonding exercise. Monday is a normal day with Brad & Drew heading to West Leeming PS for a clinic and Shawn & Steve heading up to Wanneroo Basketball Stadium to run a clinic with some at risk female youths after they have finished training. Then on Tuesday we will all bundle into our cars and head down to Waroona. We hope to get there around 10.00am so the players can have a shoot around for an hour or so, then it is off to lunch at the Drakesbrook Hotel. We will then head back to Waroona Rec Centre at 5.30pm for Game 1 of the series against the Lakeside Allstars.

An early morning on Wednesday will be required to get some breakky in before the players are running a clinic at 10.00am in Waroona for the local kids. It should be lots of fun! The boys will then have another training session before we all have lunch and head back to Perth.

Game 2 of the series will be held on Thursday 26th August at Lakeside Recreation Centre, tip off at 7.00pm.

On Friday 27th August we have managed to fit in a few more community engagements with Brad & Jeremiah running a clinic at New Life CS, Matty & Cam conducting a clinic at Ballajura CC and lastly Stevie & Drew heading to East Butler PS to read their favourite books to the kids to celebrate Book Week 2010.

Game 3 of the series will then take place on Saturday 28th August at Wanneroo Basketball Stadium. Tip Off 7.00pm.

If your school is interested in a free basketball clinic or you are running an event you would us to attend please email katie@wildcats.com.au and we will do everything we can to be there.
