There are less than two months until the NBL season tips-off, and Iām sure all teams are well into the swing of the pre-season. With new coaches Marty Clarke and Mark Radford, the Adelaide 36ers have experienced a somewhat different pre-season regime to that of the past. It signifies a new era and a new culture for the club looking forward.
The training has been intense, of high quality and the work ethic of all the players at an elite level.
For those players based in Adelaide in the off-season, including myself, Jacob Holmes and Brad Hill, we have been working hard in the gym since the season ended. Along with the other Australians ā Rhys Carter, Nathan Herbert, Jeff Dowdell, Daniel Johnson and Adam Ballinger who had been training hard and playing for their respective club teams, we were ready to start getting into great shape from the July start date.
Our imports ā Troy Devries and Craig Winder ā joined us on August 15th when our full squad trained for the first time together. It has been a combination of on-court practice, running, weights, and even some boxing.
The Adelaide 36ers have also committed to promoting the club, the game of basketball and having fun, to the schools of Adelaide.
60 schools in the pre-season is the aim, with players conducting coaching clinics and giving out hats, posters and tickets to every child.
