Townsville Crocodiles import Eddie Gill has been named the National Basketball League’s Player of the Week for Round 12 of the iiNet NBL Championship after leading his team to a road win over the Sydney Kings on Friday night.
Gill’s experience helped the Crocs score a crucial 100-903 away victory, as he exploded for a game-high 28 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-6 from the perimeter.
The 184cm point guard also added nine assists, three rebounds and one block as the Crocs improved to 6-5 for the season.
It is Gill’s second weekly award this season, as he also took out the honour in Round Six.
Gold Coast’s Adam Gibson came very close to winning back-to-back weekly awards. After taking out the Player of the Week honours in Round 11, Gibson was a standout once again in Round 12 as the Blaze defeated the Adelaide 36ers 96-77.
Gibson had 27 points, eight rebounds and four assists as he showed just why he is a regular member of the Australian Boomers squad.
Perth’s Jesse Wagstaff was also a strong candidate for the Week 12 honour after leading the Wildcats to a win over ladder leaders the New Zealand Breakers. Wagstaff had 23 points and added four rebounds.
Others considered for Player of the Week for Round 12 included Kevin Lisch (Perth), Julian Khazzouh (Sydney), Jerai Grant Sydney), Daniel Johnson (Adelaide), Brad Hill (Cairns), Peter Crawford (Townsville), Jacob Holmes (Townsville), Anatoly Bose (Sydney), Cedric Jackson (New Zealand), Andrew Warren (Cairns) and Cameron Tragardh (Melbourne).
