Tickets for the all-important 2011 FIBA Oceania Championship series in September, which will see the Australian national men’s and women’s basketball teams - the Boomers and ‘Jayco’ Opals - take on archrivals New Zealand in a unique double-header event for the right to play in London 2012, go on sale today.

For the first time ever the Boomers and Opals will play the Olympic qualification series as a double-header, with Game One of both series in Melbourne on 7 September at the State Netball Hockey Centre (AKA ‘The Cage’), Game Two at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 9 September and Game Three at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 11 September.

The winner of both the men’s and women’s series, which will be the best-of-three, will automatically qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.  The losing teams will be forced to participate in a further qualification tournament against the best non-qualifiers from all FIBA zones to earn a berth.

Tickets for the Melbourne and Sydney games are on sale now through Ticketmaster, while tickets to the Brisbane game are now being sold through Ticketek.

Full ticketing details for all three games are below.

Both teams are currently deep into their preparation for the vital series.  The ‘Jayco’ Opals are currently in the midst of their three-game series against China in Queensland, whilst the Boomers are in training camp on the Gold Coast.
