Two key SKYCITY Breakers are on the recovery trail from injuries and will travel to Melbourne to play the Melbourne Tigers this Sunday night in the iiNet NBL Championship.

Tom Abercrombie (shoulder) and Gary Wilkinson (back) have been limited in some of their work at practice this week but both have been given the all clear to board the plane tomorrow and suit up on Sunday for the third consecutive road game for the Breakers.

Team physiotherapist Anousith Bouaaphone says both have responded well to treatment and rest this week.

“Tom sustained a shoulder strain in the game against Cairns. We had a scan done this week and the imaging shows some minor damage consistent with a strain. He has full range of motion and function of the shoulder and has responded well to treatment. He is expected to travel and play this weekend.

“Gary suffered a lumbar spasm while lifting weights and was rested for the past three days but trained fully today and looks comfortable. He too will travel and play on Sunday night.”

The game is the third away game over the Christmas / New Year holiday period before the SKYCITY Breakers start a run of 6 from 7 games at home.
