The Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club has signed experienced American import point guard Myron Allen to its playing roster.
Allen, born in Texas, is described as a crowd pleasing, athletic point guard who passes well, runs the court and dunks in traffic. He has played extensively in the USA, Mexico, Philippines, Israel and China.
The point guard recently played with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, known to Melbourne Tigers fans as the club Patty Mills signed with earlier this season. Allen has played 137 games in China across 3 seasons, a league known for their high standard of imports, and has impressive averages 18.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.9 steals per game.
Tigers Head Coach Trevor Gleeson is excited with the signing.
“Myron comes to us very highly recommended. He will bring leadership, experience and his ability to pass and create shots for our scorers will be extremely valuable,” Gleeson said.
Allen will travel to Australia in the coming days, with the Tigers hoping he will be available to play in the Gold Coast on Saturday the 21st of January (pending VISA approval).
Melbourne Tigers have four home games remaining with tickets available through Ticketmaster on 136 100 or ticketmaster.com.au! For all Melbourne Tigers information please visit www.tigers.com.au.
