24 Second Shot Clock | Example I

This is an example of a 24-Second violation. The shot clock continues to run during a shot clock phase until the ball goes out-of-bounds by touching a player, the floor, backboard support or other object on or outside the boundary line. In this example, White 0 dribbles towards the basket near the end of his team’s 24-second shot clock phase. He throws a pass over the head of his teammate under the basket. While the ball is still in the air, and not yet out of bounds, the shot clock expires by hitting zero with the dot flashing within the shot clock and the yellow light illuminating at the top of the backboard. The ball then touches an area outside the baseline. This is a 24-Second violation by the White team as the ball was still in the air and in play when the shot clock expired.
