24 Second Shot Clock | Example IV

This is an example of a 24-Second violation. The shot clock continues to run, and does not reset, if the opponents do not gain control of a loose ball that is in play during a shot clock phase. It is also not a violation, and subsequently not a shot clock reset, when a player accidentally contacts or touches the ball with any part of their leg. In this example, with 5 seconds remaining on the shot clock for the Orange team, Orange 25’s pass accidentally contacts White 12’s leg at the top of the lane way and the ball bounces into the backcourt. Orange 3 regathers the ball in the backcourt, without the White team ever gaining control, and the shot clock signal sounds. This is a 24-Second violation by the Orange team.
