This is an example of a 3-Second violation. A player shall not remain in the restricted area for more than 3 consecutive seconds while his team is in control of a live ball in the frontcourt and the game clock is running. A player must place both feet on the floor outside the restricted area to be deemed to have left the restricted area. In this example, White 17 enters the restricted area while the ball is in his team’s frontcourt during a clock running phase. He doesn’t leave the restricted area and then receives a pass after more 3 seconds have elapsed. This is a 3-Second violation by White 17.
