This is an example of a travelling violation at the end of a dribble. A player is allowed to take two steps after their gather step at the end of a dribble. A gather step is a zero count for the purposes of assessing travels.

In this example, Blue 17 ends his dribble on his left foot which is his gather step. Blue 17 then takes a further three steps coming to a stop before shooting the ball. This is a travelling violation by Blue 17.
