This is an example of normal foul. Defenders cannot contact an opponent who is progressing towards their opponents’ basket from behind or laterally in an attempt to stop the fast break, and there are no other opponent players between the progressing player, the ball and the basket.

Team control is not relevant. This rule applies until the offensive player start his act of shooting. In this example, White 5 fouls Red 11 on a fast break but there are two other White defenders between Red 11 and the White team basket. This is a regular personal foul on White 5.
