Continuous Motion to the Rim | Example I

This is an example of a player fouled in the act of shooting in a continuous movement to the basket. The act of shooting in a continuous movement on drives to the basket or moving shots starts when the ball has come to rest in the player’s hand(s), upon completing a dribble or catching a pass, and the player starts the shooting motion preceding the release of the ball. In this example, White 23 drives to the basket, ends his dribble and the ball comes to rest in his left hand. White 23 is then fouled by Blue 14, takes one more step before leaping off his left foot and completing his shooting motion with the ball entering the basket. The basket by White 23 shall count as he was fouled in the act of shooting.
