This is an example of a charging foul. An airborne offensive player with the ball is responsible for contact if the defender has established a legal guarding position outside the No-Charge Semi-Circle (NCSC). This means the defender must establish legal guarding position prior to the offensive player leaving the floor. In this example, Red 24 is guarding White 11 on a drive to the basket and establishes a legal guarding position with both feet on the floor outside the NCSC before White 11 jumps in the air to shoot. White 11 then causes illegal contact with Red 24’s torso. This is a charging foul by White 11.
