Continuous Motion to the Rim | Example IV

This is an example of a player fouled in the act of shooting in a continuous movement to the basket. The act of shooting in a continuous movement on drives to the basket or moving shots starts when the ball has come to rest in the player’s hand(s), upon completing a dribble or catching a pass, and the player starts the shooting motion preceding the release of the ball. In this example, Black 0 drives to the basket, ends his dribble and the ball comes to rest in both hands. Black 0 is then fouled by White 6, takes two more steps and has his shot blocked during the completion of his shooting motion. Black 0 should be shooting 2 free throws as he was fouled in the act of shooting.
