This is an example of a no call. The legal guarding position extends vertically above a defender (cylinder) from the floor to the ceiling. The defender may raise their arms and hands above their head, or jump vertically, but must maintain them in a vertical position inside their cylinder. In this example, White 10 establishes and maintains a legal guarding position on ball-handler Blue 13. As Blue 13 spins to shoot, White 10’s right arm is vertical inside his cylinder with his left forearm tucked into his body inside his cylinder, when contact occurs. This is a no call and play shall continue.
