This is an example of a blocking foul. A defender must establish initial legal guarding position and cannot move into the path of an offensive player who has already jumped into the air to pass or shoot. In this example, secondary defender White 7 comes from the weakside to help defend Purple 22 in transition but is late and does not establish initial legal guarding position. White 7 then moves laterally to his left underneath Purple 22 after he jumps off the floor to pass the ball to his teammate in the corner. White 7 makes illegal contact with Purple 22 as he lands. This is a blocking foul by White 7.
