This is an example of a defender fouling the shooter. A defender must establish initial legal guarding position and cannot move into the path of an offensive player who has already jumped into the air to shoot the ball. In this example, White 43 steps up to defend Red 11 in transition but is late and doesn’t establish initial legal guarding position. White 43 moves laterally to his right and underneath Red 11 after he jumps to shoot the ball. White 43 then makes illegal body contact with Red 3. This is a blocking foul by White 43.
