Stationary Player – Foul before upward Motion - This is an example of a stationary player fouled prior to their upward motion. To be considered in the act of shooting the player who receives the ball in a stationary position must have started the upward motion toward the basket. In this example White 10 rips the ball through on defender Blue 44. The illegal contact is made on the sideways motion of the rip through. Once White 10 feels the illegal contact he then attempts to start his upward motion in the hope of being awarded two shots. This is not an act of shooting foul and White team should have inbounded the ball from the baseline with 14 seconds remaining on the shot clock.
