The Brisbane Bullets have signed shooting guard Dakota Mathias for the rest of the NBL26 season.

The Brisbane Bullets have added more firepower to their backcourt by signing shooting guard Dakota Mathias.

On Friday, the Bullets announced they have penned a one-year deal with the 6'4 American, who will replace the recently released Javon Liberty-Freeman.

Mathias explained he is eager to contribute to the ambitions of the club, who are fresh off a comeback win over New Zealand.

“I’ve heard great things about the Bullets, the fans, and the culture around the team,” Mathias said.

“My focus is on coming in, playing hard, defending, and helping us win games.

“I pride myself on being a consistent player who competes every possession.

"I can’t wait to get to work and represent Brisbane."

The University of Purdue alum last played for the Indiana Mad Ants (now the Noblesville Boom) in the NBA G-League, averaging 17.9 points (including 38.7 from downtown), 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

Bullets Coach Stu Lash said Mathias’ signing fills a key roster need and adds both shooting and leadership to the squad.

“Dakota is a high-IQ player who can stretch the floor and make everyone around him better,” Lash said.

“He’s a tough competitor and a proven ability to score under pressure.

“He brings composure, maturity, and a genuine understanding of how to win games at a high level.

"I think our fans are really going to enjoy the way he plays.”

The Bullets next play South East Melbourne on Saturday at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Indigenous Round fixture tips off at 5.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
