The Sydney Kings’ hopes of back-to-back championships increased on Thursday, with the club confirming the re-signing of superstar guard Kendric Davis.

Fresh off leading the Kings to their sixth title and winning the NBL26 Championship Series MVP, Davis has penned a new two-year deal with the club, one which ESPN’s Olgun Uluc says will make him the highest-paid import in the League.

Speaking on the deal, Davis, who was also the NBL26 MVP runner-up, was excited to run it back.

“I can’t thank the city of Sydney enough for the love you guys showed me since day one,” Davis said via Kings Media.

“I'm happy to say we proved all the doubters wrong together.

“I love you all, [and] I wouldn't be where I'm at without you all today. Everybody had their own opinion, and you all stuck by me.

“I’m excited for another season to try to do it again.

“I'm coming back to you, Sydney. Let's do it.”

Having developed what they called a ‘father and son-like bond’ last season, Kings coach Brian Goorjian knows how important this re-signing is for the Harbour City-based club.

“Kendric is a competitor in every sense of the word,” Goorjian said.

“The relationship he formed with this organisation and our fans became incredibly special to watch.

“To have him choose to continue that journey here in Sydney is enormous for our club and for the League.”

Davis now joins Xavier Cooks, Matthew Dellavedova, Jaylin Galloway, Keli Leaupepe, Tyler Robertson and Jason Spurgin on Goorjian’s NBL27 roster.

“Kendric and his family built a genuine connection with Sydney and with this club over the course of last season,” Kings General Manager of Basketball Operations James Newman said.

"I spoke with a lot of people through this process, including his mom, his sister, and his son, and honestly, those were the conversations that mattered most.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Kendric and his family back into our family for this next chapter.”
