12 sides locked in for exciting NBL1 National Finals

The complete 12-team field for the 2026 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 National Finals has been confirmed, following the conclusion of conference finals across the country.

The showpiece event will be held at the State Basketball Centre at the Adelaide Showground from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23, marking the first time Adelaide has hosted the competition.

Six men's teams and six women's teams will contest the National Finals, with each field made up of the five NBL1 Conference Champions and the reigning National Champions.

Men's Field

NBL1 North Champions: Gold Coast Rollers (#4 seed)

NBL1 East Champions: Norths Bears (#1 seed)

NBL1 West Champions: Rockingham Flames (#3 seed)

NBL1 Central Champions: Forestville Eagles (#2 seed)

NBL1 South Champions: Frankston Blues (#5 seed)

Reigning National Champions: Canberra Gunners (#6 seed)

Women's Field

NBL1 North Champions: Mackay Meteorettes (#4 seed)

NBL1 East Champions: Bankstown Bruins (#2 seed)

NBL1 West Champions: Warwick Senators (#5 seed)

NBL1 Central Champions: Sturt Sabres (#6 seed)

Reigning National Champions / NBL1 South Champions: Knox Raiders (#1 seed)

NBL1 South Runners Up: Waverley Falcons (#3 seed)

More than 120 players and coaches from across Australia are expected to travel to Adelaide for the tournament, showcasing the depth of talent across the NBL1 competition.

"Adelaide is going to give this year's National Finals a stage it deserves,” NBL1 General Manager Tyrone Thwaites said.

“With every conference champion now locked in alongside our reigning national champions, this is shaping up as the most competitive National Finals field we've seen. 

“Bringing the champions of every corner of the country together in the one place is what makes this event so special, and Adelaide's rich basketball history makes it the perfect backdrop.”

The National Finals have previously been held in Canberra, the Sunshine Coast, Joondalup and Melbourne, with the event continuing to grow as the premier national championship for community basketball in Australia.
