Adelaide 36ers young gun Flynn Cameron has impressed in his first opportunity with the Portland Trail Blazers at Summer League and believes his time in the NBL had him primed to perform.
“I feel like I’m ready, I think the NBL has prepped me,” he said.
“Coming from the NBL to here, even going into training camp, I feel the NBL is better to be honest.”
In a tough overtime loss to Orlando, Cameron played 16 minutes and chimed in with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.
“Getting the opportunity to play in tight games like that… just think I’m getting good experience and good exposure,” he said.
The NBL’s Most Improved Player last year has been steadily waiting for his opportunities, which started with two years at Melbourne United before joining the Adelaide 36ers in a much larger role.
As he continues to take on this new role with the Trail Blazers, he feels he has shown he belongs.
“It’s just faster paced,” he said about the differences from the NBA to the NBL.
“Your shooting percentages and then obviously athleticism, but there’s not much of a difference, to be honest, I think that what’s helped me be ready.
“It’s just me being me and I’m always going to be confident in myself, whether it looks like I’m comfortable or not.”
