Spooky season: The NBL's 5 scariest players revealed

NBL legend Derek Rucker has listed his five scariest players to ever hit the NBL hardwood.

Halloween is all about frightening monsters and scary costumes.

During the NBL's 47-year history, the competition has seen its fair share of scary and imposing players.

So to stay with the theme of it being Halloween on Friday, 1990 NBL MVP Derek Rucker has revealed the five scariest players to ever step on an NBL court.

Dean Uthoff
The Man Mountain. Never smiled. Used his body on both ends of the floor to seek revenge on anyone who crossed him. Broke three of my ribs in a game in Sydney in 1994. Appreciate you Dean.

Aron Baynes
The ultimate ‘white line fever’ player. Ask the Cairns Taipans about Baynes. An imposing physical force at the highest levels of basketball (NBA and Boomers). Act a fool around Baynes and you’ll find out.

Montrezl Harrell - The Anime Monsta.
A threatening and volatile offensive player who sought the smoke. Locks and bling everywhere, Trezz made you look the other way, simple as that.

Brad Dalton - The Old School Enforcer.
Shoulders as wide as a truck. When he walked into the stadium, he never said much, he was scheming on how to make your life miserable.

Anthony Drmic - The Antagonist.
Unique look and facials, cue psycho eyes. I’m positive he celebrates his birthday on Halloween just because. If there’s a fight in an NBL game, I somehow think Drmic is involved.

Rucker's honourable mentions were Andrew Vlahov, Mika Vukona, Mark Dalton, Al Green and Ray Gordon.

Friday's NBL action sees Illawarra host New Zealand at the WIN Entertainment Centre from 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
