"He's a stud": Taipans import set to excite

The Cairns Taipans appear set to make a big Finals push this campaign, after a busy off-season revamping their roster.

That includes bringing Keanu Pinder and Shaun Bruce back to town, while recruiting the likes of Jonah Bolden, Sunday Dech, Luke Paul and Luca Yates, to add to a core of Jack McVeigh, Reyne Smith, Kyrin Galloway and Lloyd McVeigh.

One of the final pieces to that puzzle is the exciting signing of import guard Jaylon Brown, who ESPN's Olgun Uluc believes is going to have a massive impact during the Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season.

"When Jaylon Brown signed with the Taipans, I got a call from a head coach who said, 'He's a stud. He's going to fly around, and he's going to be up and down the floor'," Uluc said on The Marketplace, presented by Paywise.

"He's going to be a really, really good scorer and player in this League, so I'm excited about what they put next to him, import-wise.

"From the sounds of it, he might be one of the under-the-radar dynamic players who've come to the League this season."

Uluc went on to explain that he believes Brown, who's played internationally in Turkey, China, Germany, Spain, Finland and North Macedonia, will be joined by another import guard in the Taipans' backcourt this season.

"From what I'm told, I don't know if Jaylon will be the one or the two, as they're pursuing another guard to play alongside him in the backcourt," he said.

"That, with the other pieces they have in place, gives them a high-level starting unit, which is very exciting for Adam Forde."

The Taipans open their NBL27 campaign against the Sydney Kings on Sunday, September 20 at Afterpay Arena.
