Talking points

Chapter one
It’s the game that every NBL fan has been waiting for, as Bryce Cotton faces his former side for the first time.

The five-time MVP arguably looks better than ever so far in NBL26 and no doubt is saving something special for his old team.

Over the last three seasons, Cotton has delivered some of the best individual games of all time. What does he have in store for us?

The Wildcats are looking to build some continuity in their roster, now that everyone is back healthy.

With Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. leading the way, there is enough firepower on this team to be one of the best teams in the league. Are they up for the task?

What they're saying

Adelaide guard Bryce Cotton on playing his former side Perth for the first time:
“It’s just another game for me. I know there's a lot of hype and I guess story around it, but it's just another game that I'm hoping to win.

"[I'm going to let] basketball do the talking. That's all it is.

“It happens sometimes (words from opposition) and depending on what's said I may ignore it or sometimes, I'll add more to whatever's said. Just depends on what mood.

“Whatever it takes to win … and you know, I have a good radar of what's normal banter and what's crossing the line. So depending on where I feel about what's said or things that are done on the court will indicate my reactions.”

Wildcats coach John Rillie on his side's matchup with former star Bryce Cotton
"You certainly know what to expect, but on the flipside, he’ll know what to expect from us. It’ll be a nice little chess game early on.

"Any player that goes against their old club, no matter what the circumstances you leave the club under, you always want to perform well.

"I’m sure in his first game there will be nice energy to it, for sure. Guys have been former teammates, and with him playing against his old club, there will be a lot of emotion in that. But as it goes on, I think that will dissolve."
