Slippery court conditions have forced an early end to the Illawarra-Sydney pre-season clash at the Snakepit.

The Illawarra Hawks and Sydney Kings pre-season game at the Snakepit in Wolliongong was called off on Tuesday night, in the interest of player safety, after agreement from both coaches.

The slippery surface, caused by condensation, was deemed too much of a risk to athletes and officials to continue play.

When the game was called off, with 3.24 left to play in the second quarter, reigning champions Sydney led 32-27.
