The Illawarra Hawks announced on Friday they will be without one of their key big men, Mason Peatling, for the remainder of the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 Season.

Two-time NBL champion Peatling, who has only made two appearances this season, will undergo season-ending foot surgery, following recommendations from specialists.

“Following consultation with multiple medical specialists, the Illawarra Hawks and Mason Peatling have made the decision to proceed with surgery to address his foot injury,” a club spokesperson said.

“While the procedure will rule Mason out for the remainder of the NBL27 season, it is expected to provide the best outcome for his long-term health and a full recovery.

“Mason will remain with the club throughout his rehabilitation, working closely with the Hawks’ medical and performance teams as he prepares for his return to basketball.”

The Hawks, who also have Todd Blanchfield currently sidelined, host Tasmania on Friday from 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
