Back in black and red: Angus returns for final encore

He was a key piece in helping the Perth Wildcats win the NBL17 and NBL19 championships, and now, upon his return, big man Angus Brandt is aiming to do the same.

The 36-year-old centre is back in Perth after seven seasons abroad, playing in China, Italy and Japan, and now aiming to help the Wildcats raise their 11th championship banner.

"I've been looking to come back to the NBL for the last two seasons," Brandt said to the West Australian.

"The last club I played for in the NBL was the Wildcats. I've always still considered myself a Wildcat. Whenever I'd watch the NBL, I was always rooting for Perth.

"Coming back here, I'm obviously towards the tail end of my career. It's exciting to go to a team, know that I'm coming off the bench, know exactly what my role is and have excitement in that.

"My motivation is to try and win a championship. Whatever I have to do for the team to help us accomplish that goal, I'm absolutely all-in to do. It doesn't matter what that is."

The Australian Boomer is one of several key signings for John Rillie's side during the Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season, alongside Brandon Knight, Anthony Dell'Orso and Alex Higgins-Titsha.

The Wildcats open their season on Saturday against South East Melbourne at RAC Arena from 9.30pm AEST, live on ESPN, 9Go! and 9Now.
