JackJumpers chairman Steve Old confirms contract talks with championship-winning coach Scott Roth are progressing well.

The Tasmania JackJumpers are closing in on locking away head coach Scott Roth for an extension, as they continue to work towards an agreement.

"My understanding is that discussions are progressing really well," JackJumpers Chairman Steve Old said on SEN Tassie Breakfast.

The championship-winning Head Coach had recently expressed his desire to continue on in the role.

"If I can stay another year or two I'll definitely do that for them," he said on SEN Tassie Breakfast last month.

The inaugural coach of the JackJumpers has helped lay the foundation and blueprint for one of their incredibly successful inceptions into the NBL.

"Our intention is to have Scott back to be 100% honest with you," Old added.

"He's been magnificent for our basketball club and magnificent for Tasmania.

"From our perspective, we want to get Scott back, the club wants to get Scott back and the owner wants to get him back."

Roth looks to get this familiar group back to a championship run, beginning on Monday, September 20 against South East Melbourne at MyState Bank Arena.

Before that, Tasmania face Brisbane (Thursday, September 3) and New Zealand (Sunday, September 6) at the CODE Sports NBL Blitz.
