The NBL and WNBL have today launched the HoopsFest Perth, Adopt-A-Club program.
The National Basketball League (NBL) and Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) have today launched the HoopsFest Perth, Adopt-A-Club program, inviting basketball associations across Western Australia to align with an NBL or WNBL club and be part of the HoopsFest experience in January 2026.
Delivered in partnership with Basketball WA, the initiative links grassroots associations with elite teams, connecting local clubs into Australia’s biggest basketball festival from 15-18 January. Associations will align with an NBL or WNBL club for the festival, backing their adopted team across HoopsFest and encouraging members and families to be part of the action both on and off the court.
Participating associations will receive access to tickets, player appearances, junior engagement opportunities and in-venue recognition, while select players will visit local clubs, creating meaningful connections between the game’s highest level and its next generation.
HoopsFest Perth brings together world-class basketball, live entertainment and community activations, with the Adopt-A-Club program designed to ensure grassroots basketball sits at the heart of the festival experience.
Alex Hamilton, Chief Product Officer, NBL Group said, “HoopsFest is about more than just games, it’s about bringing the whole basketball community together, and Perth is the perfect home for that.”
“To have every NBL and WNBL team in one place creates something truly unique, and the energy West Australian fans bring is unlike anything else. We’re excited to work closely with Basketball WA to ensure local clubs are right at the centre of the HoopsFest experience.”
Jennie Sager, CEO of the WNBL added, “HoopsFest gives us an incredible platform to reach basketball fans of all ages and showcase the very best of the WNBL and NBL. When young girls and boys can see top-quality games up close, they also see the pathways available to them; real role models, real opportunities, and a future they can aspire to.
“Bringing every team into one city creates a unique chance to connect directly with the community, celebrate the talent in our leagues, and inspire the next generation of West Australian athletes to chase their basketball dreams.”
Fabian Ross, Chief Executive Officer, Basketball WA added, "We’re proud to once again participate in the HoopsFest event and the Adopt-A-Club initiative, creating a unique opportunity to unite the NBL, WNBL, and the local basketball community in one place.
This partnership allows us to engage fans, strengthen connections, and celebrate the game we love. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the NBL, WNBL, and our associations to ensure the ongoing success and growth of basketball in Western Australia."
HoopsFest Perth 2026 will take over the city from 15-18 January, featuring NBL and WNBL games, free fan experiences in the city, open-tournaments and live entertainment across multiple venues.
HoopsFest Perth 2026 is delivered with the support of the Western Australian Government, through Tourism Western Australia. The festival will feature as part of a suite of summer events set to bring thousands of visitors to Western Australia, and through the Adopt-A-Club, ensuring that major events reach beyond the stands, and into the community.
