Talking points
MVP watch
Adelaide coach Mike Wells said the "MVP race is over" after Bryce Cotton’s 42 points during Saturday’s win over New Zealand.
Now on Sunday afternoon, two other contenders, Sydney’s Kendric Davic and Perth’s Kristian Doolittle, get a chance to respond.
The latter’s coach, John Rillie, has even come out and said he’s looking forward to Doolittle marking Davis in the match.
The race to the NBL26 MVP should be a little clearer by Sunday night.
Lual-Acuil Jr's moment
Sydney, apart from Tim Soares, lacks size on the interior, so it’s up to Jo Lual-Acuil Jr to take advantage of that.
There’s a host of exciting matchups all over the court between Sydney and Perth, but if Lual-Acuil Jr can dominate like we’ve seen in the past, it will go a long way to securing Rillie’s side a massive road win.
All signs point to a big game by the South Sudanese international too, having scored in double-figures in 13 straight contests.
What they're saying
King coach Brian Goorjian comparing Kendric Davis and Torrey Craig to two club legends:
"When Torrey Craig walked in to join Kendric, it reminded me of when Chris Williams walked in to join Shane Heal, and there's a similar feeling on this team.
"Kendric's getting better all the time and all he's worried about it is helping us get to where we want to get and we're still figuring out how to get the most out of Torrey."
Wildcats coach John Rillie on Kristian Doolittle's matchup with Kendric Davis:
“What I’m really looking forward to is, they have a player with a lot of speculation around being a MVP, I have a guy who I think is pretty good defensively. So let’s go and see what happens.
“Straight one-on-one. I know Davis is from Houston. So maybe it’ll be a little one-on-one. Like Doo said the other week, it’s Blacktop (Hoops) and let’s just see.”
