Luca Yates

The Townsville product enters his third NBL season at the Illawarra Hawks on the back of a strong showing in the NZ NBL in the off-season.

Having grown up in Far North Queensland and beginning his basketball journey in Townsville and then attending the NBA Global Academy, spent a season at Barry University.

After that 2022/23 season, returned home to Townsville for the rest of NBL1 North season where he finished with 15.1 points and 9.4 rebounds.

Spent the NBL season as a development player at the Hawks before then playing a key role in the NBL1 North championship season for Mackay.

Was then part of the NBL25 championship team at Illawarra before playing at the Hawkes Bay Hawks of the NZ NBL where he provided 8.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in almost 33 minutes a game.
