Adelaide will temporarily put its Finals campaign aside to chase a historic first Ignite Cup title and a massive $300,000 prize on the Gold Coast.

Both the Adelaide 36ers and New Zealand Breakers will be out to create history on Sunday when they lock horns in the first-ever Ignite Cup Final, presented by Disney+.

The two sides qualified for the inaugural Final on the Gold Coast after finishing in the top two spots after their four Ignite Cup fixtures during the year.

While the Breakers are determined to finish their season on a high note, after not qualifying for the post-season, the 36ers still have a Finals campaign to worry about.

But that isn’t the focus for Adelaide right now, according to guard Flynn Cameron.

“We have a great opportunity [to do something special] on the Gold Coast,” Cameron said during the club’s media availability this week.

“That’s where I’m from, so I’m going to be really up for it [the Final] as I’ll have my friends and family there.

“It’s an opportunity for us to be the first team to ever win the Ignite Cup Final, [so we’re not taking this opportunity for granted].”

Cameron, who’s loved the first season of the Ignite Cup, also acknowledges it isn’t going to be easy, with the Breakers presenting plenty of challenges in all their meetings during the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Season.

“We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“We have obviously beaten New Zealand recently, but it wasn’t easy and went down to the wire.

“We are definitely going to have to put our best foot forward on Sunday.”

Sunday’s historic fixture tips off at 4.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and Channel 10, with the teams playing off for the grand prize of $300,000.
