The Brisbane Bullets have added experienced import depth, securing Hunter Maldonado as cover following Dakota Mathias’ injury.

The Brisbane Bullets have wasted no time securing the signature of former Phoenix import Hunter Maldonado, locking him in for the remainder of the Hungry Jack's NBL26 Season.

Maldonado, 26, made 16 appearances for the Phoenix, averaging 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game.

“With Dakota (Mathias) sidelined, it was important for us to bring in someone who can step into different roles and compete straight away,” interim coach Darryl McDonald said.

“Hunter gives us size, versatility and experience at a high level. He’s played in tough leagues, he understands winning environments, and we’re confident he’ll fit in quickly with our group.”

Maldonado previously played in the German Bundesliga and has previous experience in the NBA G-League with Oklahoma City Blue.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing in the NBL – the physicality, the level of competition, and the passion of the fans make it a special league,” he said.

“It’s a place where you’re challenged every night, and that’s helped me grow a lot as a player.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey with the Brisbane Bullets and excited for this next chapter. I’m ready to come in, work hard, and do whatever I can to help the team win.”

Maldonado will take to the court once visa processes are finalised.
