Buy, Hold & Sell for Round 2: SuperCoach NBL Classic

Four clubs play twice in Round 2, and Illawarra has the best doubles draw through to Round 10, at some of the cheapest prices in the game.

Talk about a tight turnaround. SuperCoaches are still coming to terms with a ripping Round 1 of NBL27, and Round 2 lockout is TONIGHT (September 23).

Star point god match-ups were everywhere, starting with Bryce Cotton ($473,900) vs Cole Anthony ($300,000) and ending with Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($405,200) going head to head with Arnas Velicka ($277,000).

SuperCoaches who chased PJC and his double-header were rewarded big time. He posted 99 points, which became 198 with the captain's armband. Huge return.

Is he a hold? Absolutely, if you were one of the smart coaches to back the American point guard in Round 1. The Breakers have five more double-headers to Round 10.

Four clubs play twice in Round 2: Perth, Illawarra, Adelaide and Cairns. That shapes the key decisions ahead of tonight's lockout.

Buy: players to bring in

A round total from a club that played twice isn't comparable to one from a single game, so we've used per-game figures. Value is SuperCoach points per $100,000.

Arnas Velicka ($277,000): Buy. Buy. Buy. The Lithuanian point guard is a bona fide star. He piled up 59 points from 23 points, 14 assists, five rebounds and just one turnover in 35:02. He's a cash cow and a hold in waiting.

Cole Anthony ($300,000): 34 points. The 26-year-old announced his arrival with 30 points (10-for-21) off the bench in just 21:49 of restricted minutes.

Kristian Doolittle ($317,500): 46 points. 14.49 per $100k. The highest single-game return of any player who doubles in Round 2.

Jo Lual-Acuil Jr ($318,100): 36 points. 11.32 per $100k.

Elijah Pepper ($202,700): 21 points. 10.36 per $100k.

Keanu Pinder ($300,000): 39 points. 13.00 per $100k.

Shaun Bruce ($76,500): 22 points. 28.76 per $100k. The best value of any player who doubles in Round 2. He's getting genuine backup point guard minutes, and you know what you're in for.

Jonah Bolden ($133,600): 21 points. 15.72 per $100k.

Reyne Smith ($156,300): 17 points. Smith put up numbers, but he's a tweener at his price point. This one comes down to preference.

Bryce Cotton ($473,900): 42 points. 8.86 per $100k. The most expensive player in the game, and he doubles. There's a reason he costs what he does. If your plan was to go from PJC to BC, you'll be second-guessing yourself.

Zylan Cheatham ($339,500): 30 points. 8.84 per $100k.

Nick Rakocevic ($188,400): 22 points. 11.68 per $100k. Isaac Humphries is out, which means more minutes at the five for Rakocevic.

Isaac White ($98,100): 17 points. 17.33 per $100k.

William Hickey ($331,600): 34 points. 10.25 per $100k.

Milton Doyle ($274,700): 25 points.

Dejan Vasiljevic ($144,000): 45 points across two games, 22.5 per game. He fits right into Gordon Herbert's pin-down offence as the man to shoot the three-ball.

Hold: players to keep

Cash cows with double-headers are the sweet spot for holds as SuperCoaches head into head-to-head leagues. Just be wary of pulling the trigger on anyone purely because of a Round 2 double.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($405,200), New Zealand: 99 points across two games, 49.5 per game. The per-game number is elite, but the round total isn't repeatable. He was Round 1's leading scorer, but roughly half of that came from the fixture.

Dash Daniels ($115,000), South East Melbourne: 64 points across two games, 32.0 per game and 55.65 per $100k. Comfortably the best value of Round 1. He's the cheapest genuine option in the game, and his price is about to move.

Sam Mennenga ($303,100): 51 points across two games, 25.5 per game.

Angus Glover ($191,700): 49 points across two games, 24.5 per game.

Players who beat their break-even and have six or more doubles to Round 10. Compare players on the +/- column, not SC. The New Zealand Breakers and South East Melbourne Phoenix both played twice in Round 1, so their raw scores cover two games. Break-even is charged per game, so +/- is a fair comparison on every row.

Players who beat their break-even and have five doubles to Round 10. Dash Daniels has the biggest margin in the league, and his price is about to move hard. As with Tier 1, compare on +/- rather than SC, because the Phoenix played twice in Round 1.

Sell: players to move on

The underperformers: $250,000 or more and under 20 points per game

Darius Days ($277,000): Three points, the worst return for his price in the round. Word is the Hawks will waive him.

Jack McVeigh ($349,800): Eight points. The fourth-most expensive player in the game. He doubles in Round 2, but Cairns has plenty to work out with its new rotation. He's pricey, and SuperCoaches can't afford to wait for Adam Forde to find the answer.

Jaylin Williams ($277,000): 11 points. Plays once in Round 2.

Dylan Windler ($271,100): 12 points. Doubles in Round 2.

Torrey Craig ($290,400): 12 points. Plays once in Round 2.

Yannis Morin ($277,000): 29 points across two games, 14.5 per game. Plays once in Round 2.

D'Shawn Schwartz ($277,000): 32 points across two games, 16.0 per game. Plays once in Round 2.

Andrew Carr ($277,000): 17 points. Plays once in Round 2.

Injuries to check before lockout

The NBL Injury Tracker is the perfect resource ahead of lockout. These players head into Round 2 under an injury cloud, are out, or are done for the season, so make sure none of them are in your team before you confirm.

Isaac Humphries ($265,300): Knee. Recovery timeline to be confirmed.

Jaylin Galloway ($196,400): Shoulder. Expected to return in Round 6.

Jaron Rillie ($177,100): Lower leg. Return timeline to be confirmed.

Shea Ili ($175,300): Hamstring.

Sean Macdonald ($159,500): ACL. Out for the season but still in the player register.

Keli Leaupepe ($145,200): ACL. Out for the season but still in the player register.

Josiah-Jordan James ($277,000): Hamstring. Expected to return between Rounds 5 and 7.

Captain: armband candidates

The armband is worth the most on a doubling club because it applies to both games. Here are the options, ranked by Round 1 score among players who double in Round 2.

Kristian Doolittle ($317,500): 46 points. Doo will get numbers even without a point guard at the Wildcats. He's more than $150K cheaper than Cotton, so he's worth bringing in, or captaining if you already have him.

Bryce Cotton ($473,900): 42 points. A simple choice if you already own him.

Keanu Pinder ($300,000): 39 points. A viable option with Cairns playing twice.

Jo Lual-Acuil Jr ($318,100): 36 points. The Wildcats' man in the middle is priced about the same as running mate Doolittle, and the double makes him a solid choice.

William Hickey ($331,600): 34 points. 10.25 per $100k. Experts are tipping multiple triple-doubles for Hickey in NBL27, and he gets two cracks at his first in Round 2.

Doolittle vs Cotton

Perth plays Adelaide and New Zealand, while Adelaide faces Perth and Cairns. Doolittle and Cotton meet on Thursday, so they aren't independent captaincy options.
