“In limbo”: Prather’s future unclear in Brisbane

Casey Prather’s future remains uncertain as he rehabs while the Brisbane Bullets shape their roster under new leadership.
The Brisbane Bullets’ new chapter is underway, with Will Weaver arriving last week to begin building toward next season and beyond.
As the roster starts to take shape, one name drawing plenty of attention is fan favourite Casey Prather.
“We are in limbo right now,” he said on NBL Now.
“We’ve talked a couple of times, me and Will, but right now he is just focusing on trying to … get his feet settled and figure out what his family is going to do.
“He has a lot of decisions to make, a lot of people to talk to. So negotiations and contract talks isn’t really on the play right now.”
Before Prather’s season-ending injury, the star forward was the second leading scorer in the competition, averaging over 24 points per game, to go with seven rebounds.
“I’m just focusing on my rehab journey at trying to get back to playing,” he added.
“I’m pretty confident that if it’s not with the Bullets, (but) hopefully it is, it’ll be somewhere else.”
Prather went down with a knee injury during Brisbane’s Ignite Cup clash on the Gold Coast, a key moment that derailed his team’s season.
“Right now I actually feel really well,” he said.
“The knee is coming along ahead of schedule right now. Everyone here is excited about it … now it’s all about just taking my time, letting everything gel and starting to build that strength a little bit more.
“I anticipate being on court end of April ... and then start getting my conditioning back and by June, July I’ll be full go on the court and ready to go by the season.”
