What is the Ignite Cup?

The in-season tournament is played across 20 Wednesday night games, with every result counting towards the regular season ladder. A unique quarter-by-quarter scoring system decides a separate Ignite Cup ladder.

For NBL27, the tournament evolves into a four-team Ignite Cup Finals Series at AIS Arena in Canberra. The teams will battle it out for a share of $550,000 in prize money, the largest in League history and up from last season's $400,000.

Talking points

Offensive reinforcement

Averaging the second-lowest points per game, the Adelaide 36ers have needed a spark on the offensive end, with the likes of Flynn Cameron and Isaac Humphries sidelined.

They may finally have found their man in Corey Webster, who is tasked with bringing firepower to the 36ers' lineup alongside Bryce Cotton.

Webster and Cotton played together at the Wildcats, so expect the former's addition to make the six-time MVP's life easier from the jump.

Stars need to stand up

Through the opening three rounds of the NBL27 season, a number of Melbourne's stars, such as Cole Anthony and Josh Oduro, have been in form.

The same can't be said for high-profile recruits Luke Travers and Sam Waardenburg, who are averaging 10.3 and 6.3 points, respectively.

For this United machine to fire on all cylinders, especially without Chris Goulding, Travers and Waardenburg are going to have to be more aggressive and efficient on the offensive end.
