Talking points
Desperation time for champs
Justin Tatum’s team sits eighth on the ladder with just six wins from 19 games and while they’re dream to go back-to-back isn’t officially out of reach, it’s getting harder by the game.
While Sam Froling’s incredible return from his Achilles injury on Christmas day was a highlight, the Hawks were put away comfortably by the Kings and need to respond in this one.
With Tasmania currently sitting in sixth spot, this is a crucial game for their post-season chances.
JackJumpers' consistency
Over their past five games, Tasmania has gone - win, loss, win, loss, win, meaning they've followed up every strong performance with a dissappointing loss.
After grinding out an impressive win over South East Melbourne at MyState Bank Arena, Scott Roth's side will have a chance to buck that trend against the reigning champions in Wollongong.
In Tasmania's favour is the fact they won the pair's only meeting on September 27 (91-86) and hold an all-time record of 9-5 over the Hawks.
What they're saying
Hawks coach Justin Tatum on his team responding:
"Playing how we did on Christmas Day wasn't expected.
"We felt that, especially coming off the Adelaide game where intensity was high, we were going to give a lot more. But, the ball didn't roll our way.
"These last couple of practices, we've had a couple of guys out due to hurt and sickness, but [Tuesday] is our full first full day of practice with everybody here, so I'm feeling pretty positive about [New Year's]."
JackJumpers coach Scott Roth on his team building on Monday's win:
"They all have some bumps and bruises and things that need to be taken care of.
"We just have to continue to keep our head above water and keep fighting."
