He may have only been around the NBL for a few months and featured in four games, but Cole Anthony can already see the trajectory the League is on.

The Melbourne United star, who scored 40 points in his last outing against Cairns, had high praise for the NBL during a recent episode of ESPN's The Hoop Collective.

“I didn't know too much [about the NBL before arriving] except that obviously LaMelo Ball was out here several years ago, and RJ Hampton, who's a very good friend of mine and also a former teammate, played out here,” Anthony said.

“But [since] I've gotten out here, I've learned a lot more, and [there's] a lot of talent in this League overall.

“The League is run really well, and I think that it's on the uptrend; this is nowhere near as good as it's going to be a few years from now.

“I'm just happy to get out here now, say I'm a part of it, and just experience it.”

The statistics back up Anthony's sentiments, with free-to-air audiences up 96 per cent and attendance up 14 per cent through the opening part of the Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season.

When comparing the NBL to the NBA, where he played six seasons, Anthony said there were plenty of similarities.

“In the NBA you're going to have some bigger arenas, but the fans here are just as loud, and care just as much about the game. It's really not that big a difference at the end of the day.

“When you step on that court, my focus is going to be on the court, but I definitely always like to take a look around and take in the environments, which so far have all been electric and been a good time.”

Anthony and his 1-3 Melbourne United will look to return to the winner's circle on Wednesday when they travel to Adelaide to face the 36ers in an Ignite Cup clash.

That fixture tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
